Week 3: Reflection



This week for me was very interesting as I had to venture into different types of assignments that I haven't done before. At the same time these assignments of case analysis and root cause analysis will be valuable tools for me to use going forward in my business career.

Within those assignments from the root case analysis it gave a way to to get to the root cause by way of the "5 Why's". You basically start with the why is the issue there. You then put together a team of people that will help you with breaking down the why. Then you take the next two Why's are to drill down what the problem is and why it is continuing to be a problem. These points get broken down until they can't be broken down any further and you are left with the root cause of the problem. From the case analysis I learned that sometimes even the best opportunities that come our way aren't always the best thing for us.

I was also tasked at finding a Social issue within the state in which I live to work on solving. I chose an issue that is continuing to grow in the state. Now with our economic situation that we are faced with Homelessness could hit a new high as hundreds of thousands of people are and have been without work for a couple of months now. Along with that many companies are having to shut their doors due to lack of business and income. I look forward to trying to work with prominent people in Washington to see what we can do to alleviate the homelessness or atleast slow it down for the short term.

Week 13 Reflection

This week was a great one for me. I absolutely love when I take take cyclical education and add in the spiritual side of things. For me it makes my pursuit of a degree even more enjoyable. I know for myself I have learned ten times more from a class when I have been able to relate the class to the gospel and aspects of my life. One of the biggest things that stood out to me was reading about the comparisons of Disciple leadership and a Social Entrepreneur. Then taking the scriptures and creating a guide of scriptures that were related to being a Social Entrepreneur. Week 12 Reflection

July 11, 2020            This week was filled with a lot of learning not only from the reading, the Gap Analysis, and the discussion questions. One of the things that was most beneficial for me was learning more about various Entrepreneurs and the change that they made possible through not only their insight, but that of Governmental change in some cases.            I think that one of the things that stood out to me the most was the ABC's of Self-Reliance from the Gap Analysis studying section. It was interesting to me that although it is ABC it all really begins with the "C" in Cognition and that is what truly starts the change or the action that drives the behavior. I feel that this for me is a game changer piece of knowledge that I will use for the rest of my life. Not only to help myself but others around me. Week 4: Reflection Journal

         This was a great week for review and additional learning. I was able to take from our textbook "How to change the World", a worldly take on Social innovation and be able to relate it back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then learning about Design Thinking and how to apply it to both big and small issues.           One of the things that stood out from our reading in the How to Change the World book was this; Svekeres was very successful in Social Innovation because of a Christ-like Love for her child. Each time that she seemed to hit a roadblock or something got in her path, she was able to revert back to thinking on her son and the answers would just come. She found solutions to everything through patience. Chapter 9 really made a big impression on me and created an inspired feeling within me to do more.
