BUS374: Week 2 Reflection
This week was somewhat of a struggle for me at the beginning as I had to think about what part of the pyramid that I fit in. This really got me thinking about my future and where I am currently at. I hope to be able to be in the top tier which is a Social Entrepreneur that has an idea and then blazes a trail to make a difference in the world. Then I learned some things about Archaeology of Social Change from our manual this quarter "How to Change the World".
I really enjoyed reading about Fabio Rosa and the success that he had as a Social Entrepreneur in Brazil. One of the things that I found most interesting about him and his successes is that when roadblocks came along he was never discouraged. He always looked at the positive side of things and never doubted that a solution would appear. Another good thing was see the process he had to go through and how he circumvented each of the various roadblocks he came upon. When we want to adventure out on our own we don't always think about the ins and outs of each issue we may come up against. Government and other companies are some of the first roadblocks we may come upon. We have to work with them to get contracts and permits to do things. We some times may even have to talk to city councils and the citizens of the communities we want to work in to get our product going.
After reading the article by Jeffrey Thompson I can see a couple of different links between, Social Innovation, the Gospel, and what Jeffrey was speaking about in the article. While we are embarking on the journey of life it is much like being a Social Entrepreneur. We try to become our best selves and make a difference in the world. A Social Entrepreneur is doing the same thing by getting an idea and making something that will have a lasting effect on the world. Now both the human and the Entrepreneur both have faith and are led by the Holy Ghost in their life. Now the Entrepreneur may call it something different but we know that everything we have comes from our Heavenly Father. We still must seek his guidance and direction as an Entrepreneur asks his mentors and we ask our parents and Heavenly Father. Each of those actions require faith to seek the answers that we are looking for. Both have talents and we have to work hard to take those talents and turn them into something to benefit others. Much as the Disciples went around helping everyone around by teaching them the gospel. Developing our time takes time and effort just as developing an idea or trusting in our Heavenly Father to take the right path in life.
