Week 11 Reflection
This week was somewhat interesting as the City of Seattle has taken back it's Seattle neighborhood of Capital Hill. Now why is that significant. With everything that has been happening in the world and specifically around Washington. We have been seeing a spike in Homelessness. This is of course the issue that I have been working on in this class over the course of 6 weeks. This week we have also been learning more about impact investing. Also, how companies will use their impact investing to help have a greater impact or footprint on their location.
I really enjoyed doing the activity and looking to see which companies used what other types of companies to invest their money in on causes for the greater good. How each of them worked and partnered with others to increase their footprints in their social issues. I think that one of the things that I struggled with though is quite a few of the companies we looked at were all companies that were doing good for other countries and the ones I looked at didn't do anything for the United States nor were any of the companies that I saw from within the United States. Not that that is an issue. It just means that they are working harder for other parts of the world instead of the US.
I truly believe that for as long as there are human beings still on this earth and greed is not eradicated, there will always be homelessness and poverty. It would be great if poverty would only be limited to Museums. Unfortunately, poverty is something that can't and won't ever be limited to the space between 4 walls. The world must work together in a concerted effort to improve the way of life for everyone on the planet.
